The NEP towards the Quality of Education

As per the new National Education Policy, it has a vision to look forward for quality education through revamping and regenerate the existing Universities and Colleges. The new policy feels that quality education can be strived only through the creation of diversity in education i.e., multidisciplinary education. This system of education would increase General Education Requirement to at least 50% by 2035.

Higher Education is a door of economic development of any nation. It plays a key role in improving overall development of the human persons in the school of liberty, equality, fraternal spirit, and justice. The new policy is oriented towards providing quality education to the young minds, which will further fulfill their career to a saturation level along with the character formation, and this will definitely results in the overall development of the country.

Through the new upcoming industrial revolution, India is striving towards the true knowledge and thus increasing more employment opportunities. This new industrial revolution gives rise to advanced technology that requires latest skills in the jobs. Therefore truly speaking, National Education Policy of 2019 is striving to provide education that trains and equips the students to prepare them suitable for the current trends especially keeping in mind the new industrial revolution. The curriculum framed will thus renovate the present universities and colleges from single discipline to multi discipline. The students will be given education in depth, in one or more specialized areas of their interests concurrently working towards the building of their character, ethical values, Constitutional values, intellectual curiosity, spirit of service and many more.

How National Education Policy or Multidisciplinary education contribute to the wholesome personal growth of the citizens?

With the implementation of multidisciplinary education, there arises a greater impact in the field of commerce. As already mentioned, above commerce is mainly concerned with buying and selling i.e., business.  Any business has huge impact on the economic status of a country as it generates the huge income or per capital income to a country, thus resulting in the development of not only the revenue aspect of a nation but also on the standard of living of the citizens.

To bring about these advancements, higher education of a country plays a primary role. Higher education means a wholesome growth of the young people.  In the words of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam it means, igniting the young minds towards the growth of personal, family, society, and country at large. After the university education, the young people fetch the jobs and settle down in their lives. It is the most important part of education that gives twist to their lives. It is the right time for the youth to understand the importance of education, work and life. Hence, education at this level should be the prominent one so that right education can build the youths life.

The new policy speaks about this education to be multidisciplinary so that it is the right time to feed the right information and thrust the responsibility of developing the nation through education. The students will be equipped with latest technology that in turn not only develops them as individuals but also will affect the nation as a whole.

As per the National Education Policy, 2019 the higher education produces specialized students through bringing in the idea of multidisciplinary education, thus giving rise for many advancements through deeper knowledge in particular fields. Through this, industrial revolution undergoes a drastic change and the employment opportunities will match the education provided thus it strives towards the overall development of the country. Higher education will indirectly produce the enlightened minds with new innovative ideas. All these will enable not only the personal growth of an individual but also adds to the productive contribution towards the society. Through this, it prepares the citizens for meaningful and satisfying life and at the same time develops the society reducing the social, psychological and economic problems of the people.

NEP towards the dispute resolution of young learners in commerce

One of the aims of National Education Policy with higher education is to reason out the problems faced by the society and educate the new minds to find solutions for these problems through education and thus it wants the faculty and students to engage with local communities to learn the real day to day problems faced by the people at large. This collaboration helps the students to determine the real problems for example the quality of the products that are used by the below poverty line or the type of market the people have. Knowing the factual, the students can function in collaborative, inclusive, and cross-disciplinary ways to find the solutions. This helps the new minds to spring up with innovative ideas to solve the real problems faced by the business or any other field.

Results of dispute resolution

In this way, the innovative ideas can give rise for various solutions and novelty in the business by producing new quality products with low cost that suits the needs of the people. Through the new education policy, students are trained in specialized areas of their interest. Students of distinct field with different areas of expertise can contribute for the holistic development of the country. The students with marketing expertise can give rise to innovative ideas for marketing the products, various skills and new methods of marketing strategies, can bring more objective oriented activities, and can have innovative marketing mix, consequently satisfying the customer's needs and wants.

In a similar way, finance students can spring up with new methods of dealing with financial resources so that the investment made on the products or services can be utilized to the best without any waste. Students securing specialized knowledge in the field of production can come up with new techniques of production that gives rise for new products with good quality, added to that they can create an output, which contribute to the utility of individuals. This but they not only can bring improvement in the quality-price-ratio of goods and services and can increase incomes from growing these operation to produce the goods with efficiency. On similar lines, students with the expertise knowledge on the latest Information technology can come out with innovative ideas for advanced techniques that will enable our country to market the products not only within the nation but also internationally. This expertise knowledge will help to grow globally and reach the international markets.

It is believed that the businesses, which have used technology to gain competitive advantage over their competitors, would typically have high customer loyalty rates. All these developments are possible only when the new minds are well equipped and skilled towards the specific areas of specialization. These specializations can be developed only through multidisciplinary. With the new idea of multidisciplinary education, it is possible to reach the vision of National Education Policy on higher education by 2035.

Becoming skilled at local communities in order to deal with national issues

The new National Education Policy of 2019 speaks about engaging young minds in national issues and concerns of the day. This is possible when the students experience in real, the few activities with local communities. The National Education Policy of 2019 is striving towards providing practical knowledge apart from the theory part of discipline. Few activities can be conducted that make the students get along with the local population, know them in and out, see the real life of local people closely, learning from observation and experience. There are few activities prevailing like NSS, where students serve the nation through social service. More activities on similar lines will facilitate the students to realize the real life situation of the society. Through the real life experience, the students will get to know not only the problems that the society faces but also rather the problems faced by their own parents in bringing them up. This paves a way for shouldering the parent's responsibilities and would know the real value of education. The students will learn to take up the responsibilities at the very young age. Their attitude towards the life improves. This will not only add to the subject knowledge but will also develop the maturity level helping them to lead a fruitful life ahead. With this maturity among students at a very young age, they will be able to deal with life problems individually and as the members of the society. All these will bring the sense of leadership in their minds. Innovation in leadership-theory too develops. The country will have educated leaders by being experts in the field of commerce to result in the development of the country.

Future of the youth promoted through NEP

The aim of National Education Policy of 2019, through higher education is not only to provide education towards the fulfillment of job vacancies but also has much greater role. It is for preparing the youth for their future, as future workplace will demand critical thinking, communication, problem solving, creativity, and multidisciplinary capability etc. These attributes or skills in students can be inculcated only through multi-disciplinary education. Diversity in education gives birth to overall development of young people in multiple ways. To attain multi-disciplinary approach of education system the respective structure, curriculum, and processes of higher education must all work together coherently towards attaining the set goals.  Therefore, country like India definitely requires multi skilled intellectuals to focus not only in one aspect rather in various aspects so that overall development of the country is assured.

The development of these attributes in students will not only have individual growth but also will gain the competitive advantage, which can be competent in the present world to reach any point globally. These changes are very much required for the complete development of the individual.

Conclusion:

To conclude I would like to mention few of the challenges that are faced in implementing the NEP. The implementation of the changes in a country like India is a great challenge. The reason for the challenges could be most important because of the instability in the systems and slow growth aspect with high rate of expectations. It is explicitly stated that change is not welcomed. Though the rules are rigid, the development can happen only when the mindsets of the people change. People should get educated for bringing innovation in their lives and the society and not just exam oriented. To set changes in these parameters it is a real big challenge. The objectives are accomplished only with the human cooperation. Everything will be based on the mindset and acceptance of humans as these changes deals with humans and not robots. This requires the cooperation from all the citizens and has to face a many challenges to reach the key goals of higher education.

As of now, India has over 800 universities and approximately 40,000 colleges; they reflect the overall severe fragmentation and small size of HEIs are prevailing currently in the country as 40% of all colleges in the country run only a single program that is far from the vision of multidisciplinary style of higher education by 21st century. To the worst, thousands of colleges are not equipped with either no teaching faculties or unsuitable teaching fraternity with absolute nil education. This has a direct impact on training the new minds towards holistic development. Bringing the changes in these universities and colleges will take more time. Recruitment of qualified and competent staff is also the biggest challenge for the day. This will result in either no education or less education that will again increase the unemployment rate as these students will be incompetent with skills to perform the latest advanced job. The high unemployment rate will have adverse effect in the development of the country bringing down the standard of living of the people.

Another major challenge in implementing the new National Education Policy is that failure in the systems for the rural people to access the latest knowledge though they are inbuilt with high potentialities. This gives rise to the problem of inequality in quality education. Though policies changes, yet it is difficult to eradicate the socio-economic problems of the people especially the rural areas of the country. Hence, it is a greater challenge to educate every citizen that has direct impact to the business and thus to the country at large.

Another challenge is lack of proper structure of career development for the faculty and institutional leaders. The system of selection, promotion, salary and recognitions are not based on the merits but on the seniority basis. In such cases, the staff will not be much interested in delivering and transforming their knowledge. This again will result in low-level education.

These challenges certainly will have a greater impact to the field of commerce.
