Implication and Influence of National Education Policy-2019

Introduction

National Education Policy first started by PM Indira Gandhi in 1968, followed by that in 1986 by PM Rajiv Gandhi, it is a formation by Government of India to provide smooth functioning of education among Indian Individuals, it covers education from primary level to highest degrees covering all the regional parts of India, at present K. Kasturirangan is appointed by Government of India to draft NEP, the policy is framed with discussion with educators, experts, researchers, industries, community groups, policy makers committee etc (Wikipedia, 2019). Policy was drafted in the year 1968, 1986, 1992 and 2019. The previous policies are considered as background for the NEP-2019. NEP-2019 vision is to enable Indian centred education system aiming at transforming out nation into a knowledgeable society with higher quality education. The timeline to achieve the recommended policy is by 2025-2030 (Wikipedia, 2019).

Implications of NEP-2019:

·        Below 3-6 years every child must get earlier education by 2025,

·        By 5th grade all students must know the basics of literacy and           numeracy,

·        Suitable and flexible curricular for school level,

·         Inter-discipline exposure – no boundary for streams,

·      100% enrolment from the pre-school to secondary education,

·         Strong regulation through school regulation centres,

·   Demanding recruitment for teaching professionals, and quality preparation by teachers,

·      Many multidisciplinary institutions,

·          Liberal arts in UG to be focused in broad sense,

·         Creative Combination of study,

·    Education related to professional as an importance portion of higher education,

·  Allow self-regulation and autonomy for higher education institutions,

·    Functioning of various departments under education to be separated to reduce conflict of interest with stringent regulations by NEP,

·    National Research Foundation – to encourage research and innovations in all the streams and also interdisciplinary,

·     Rashtriya Shiksha Aayog a committee to oversee and act as guardian to the entire education system of India (Draft National Education Policy 2019, 2019).

Influence of NEP-2019 implications on Commerce discipline based on higher education policy:

·        Many of the commerce area topics are understandable with that of knowledge on statistics, psychology (to understand consumer behaviour, human resources management with regard to traits of employees, communication style etc), history to understand how commerce emerged from economics, economics is must needed as it is the backbone of commerce.

·    Demanding of highest degree and research contribution for the teaching career will help the class room education to get the quality insight on industry and practical exposure of commerce in the day to day activity in the outside world

·   Multidisciplinary institutions will help commerce students to approach various experts from other discipline and lead to construction of good interdisciplinary approach to a subject matter to easily understand the concept, interdisciplinary discussion by various stream experts will help in another various model development.

·   Liberal arts into the commerce class will help students to understand the history of trade, and literature related to the commerce framework I.e., the various theories.

·         Freedom for students to learn the subjects apart from their stream in commerce will create combination of study such as psychology in consumer behaviour, classical theories to build the want for the product in the market, statistics to understand the probability of profit scales etc , which will help the students to have clear knowledge on all the possible aspects of a concept. And oversee of various dimension.

·        Autonomy in higher education will help in commerce teachers to build curricular that is more apt to that of the education model requires specifically built for providing easy understanding of this particular stream concepts, for example paper by research, industrial exposure, company internship, research etc

·        If the head of the regulation is of other stream and frame course plan for commerce based on the stream, he or she belongs to will not be feasible and increases conflict of interest between hierarchy, hence when each department function separately it will structure in a feasible way as per that particular stream's demand by the society.

·        Most of the research is interdisciplinary, this particular policy will enable to do multidisciplinary research and also at the same time not to lose research recognition to the commerce field. Research is must needed for commerce as commerce is the only stream that is based on changing of industrial environment and day to day activity of society as a consumer and the contribution to the national income with proper accounting and taxation calculation by the contributors, so these all aspects are never constant, in order to update the syllabus research based on changing problem of society is must.

 

Conclusion

Thus, higher education in NEP-2019, to develop 15000 large multidisciplinary institution from the current universities and colleges with compulsory research to be focused along with the teaching (National Education Policy, 2019). Encouragement for gaining the autonomous status for granting degree to higher education system (National Education Policy, 2019) enables a strict rule by each institute to aim at quality degree provider and less of conflict between board and higher education institution regarding multidisciplinary exposure to students. Multidisciplinary exposure in the same time not to lose knowledge on the subjects related to the commerce stream it is good to adopt even commerce degree program to be for 4 years and more if granting more than one degree. And also, greater focus on infrastructure will directly improve the quality of course work. The research foundation at national level will help commerce to contribute more for social science division will help to recognise outstanding researchers which had barriers for the fund and publication freedom so far and remove constraints in proceeding with their articles with the help of various linkage between researchers, government and industry. And the policy also leads for various other policy to be implemented easily because of encouragement of public investment towards financing education, which will make way for expanding infrastructure.

Hence my understanding on National Education Policy is one sentence is "Freedom to be Educated as per individual's interest in Higher Education".
